Englisch B1/B2 Special: Wine, Walk and Talk

Wine, Walk and Talk" is ideal for anyone who would like to improve their spoken English in an enjoyable and practical way. It offers a successful combination of conversation, culture, nature, and the region's rich wine heritage. This three-part communicative English course at B1–B2 level combines language learning with regional wine culture and hands-on experience.

Part 1: Preparation

On Thursday, 22 October 2026, you will attend a 90-minute preparatory session at the VHS. Through interactive activities, you will build confidence in speaking English, expand your vocabulary related to wine, and practise everyday conversational situations as well as useful expressions for wine tours. The aim is to help you discuss flavours and aromas, ask questions, and talk naturally about wine in a relaxed social setting.

Part 2: The Wine Tour

On Sunday, 25 October 2026, you will take part in a 90-minute guided wine tour in English through the vineyards of Groß-Umstadt, organised in cooperation with the local winegrowers' cooperative "vinum autmundis." During the tour, you will discover different grape varieties, gain insights into the winemaking process, and learn about the history of viticulture in the region. A tasting of four wines served directly in the vineyard completes the experience. This is the perfect opportunity to put your newly acquired language skills into practice in an authentic setting while enjoying a relaxing walk through the vineyards. (Meeting point: Am Farmerhaus 1, 64823 Groß-Umstadt. Ample parking is available both in the designated hikers' car park and along the road.

Part 3: Follow-up Session

In a 90-minute follow-up session during the following week, you will have the opportunity to reflect on your vineyard experience while further developing your English communication skills. Through guided discussions, pair work, and interactive speaking activities, you will review key vocabulary and useful expressions related to wine, vineyards, grape varieties, and the winemaking process. You will revisit the topics covered during the tour, exchange impressions with other participants, and practise describing what you learned and observed in English.

The cost of the guided tour is already included in the course fee. If more than five participants enrol, the tour costs will be reduced proportionally.
